The Blackfalds & Area Historical Society was incorporated in April of 2005.  In the spring of 2006 the Blackfalds Public Library provided the society with space for a small office and another room for safe archival storage.  As of 2017, our office and archives are located in the Wadey Centre.

In 2007 the society gained charitable status and can issue tax receipts for donations. The Blackfalds Archives strives to collect and preserve documents, records, photographs and other items representing the family, social, and organizational history of Blackfalds and the surrounding area; and to store these records of value and make them available to the public as a vital resource of Blackfalds’ rich cultural heritage.
